3 ex-NPA rebels surrender to Occidental Mindoro cops

3 ex-NPA rebels surrender to Occidental Mindoro cops

CITY OF CALAPAN — Three former members of the New People’s Army surrendered Friday in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, according to a report from the Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan (Mimaropa) police office.

Col. Simeon Gane Jr., police provincial director, said alias “Ka Joshua” and “Ka Jerome”, both 42, and “Ka Marian”, 41, voluntarily surrendered to Occidental Mindoro Provincial Police Office (PPO) 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company in Barangay (village) Payompon.

The surrenderees are all from Barangay (village) Barahan in Sta. Cruz.

The 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), provincial intelligence unit, Sta Cruz police, 402nd and 405th B Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4B, provincial intelligence team – Occidental Mindoro of the regional intelligence unit-4B, and the 76th Infantry Battalion under the 203rd Brigade of the Philippine Army facilitated the surrender, said the report.

The surrenderees are regular members of Sandatahang Yunit Sa Pag-Oorganisa under Platoon GMT, SRMA-4D (ISLACOM MINDORO) that operates in the provinces of Occidental Mindoro (Sta Cruz, Mamburao, Paluan and Abra de Ilog towns) and Oriental Mindoro (Puerto Galera, San Teodoro and Baco towns).

They are now in the custody of the Occidental Mindoro 2nd PMFC for debriefing and determination of whether they are qualified for the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip).

E-Clip offers free medical treatments, education, housing, and legal aid to rebels who surrender.

PRO Mimaropa had reported 69 surrendered CTG members from January 1 to May 6 this year.

“This is the direct result and testament of our strong commitment under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict to securing our region against the threat of communist terrorism”,  said Brig. Gen. Sidney Hernia, regional director of Mimaropa police.
