Gov’t to hold another job fair on Independence Day

MANILA, Philippines — The government will hold another job fair on Independence Day, an official of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Friday.

“Ang susunod po natin ay iyong Independence Day naman po which is on June 12, mayroon din po tayong malawakan na job fair,” DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said in a Laging Handa public briefing.

(Our next will be on Independence Day which is on June 12, we will have a massive job fair.)

On May 1, Labor Day, the government rolled out a job fair wherein around 153,000 domestic and overseas work were available for applicants.

She said that most of the filled-up vacancies were jobs in the manufacturing sector.

“In terms of na-fill up-an na mga vacancies po, marami po iyong sa manufacturing sector lalung-lalo na po doon po sa mga production operators. And then sa retail trade naman po, mayroon pong sales clerks, iyong admin staff; and then pagdating po sa construction, iyon pong ating mga construction workers po,” said Tutay.

(In terms of filled-up vacancies, many were from the manufacturing sector, especially product operators. And then for retail, there were posts for a sales clerk, admin staff; and then when it comes to construction, construction workers.)

According to Tutay, the job posts that were not filled up will be offered on the next job fair events and will be posted on their website.

In March, the country’s employment rate was registered at 94.2 percent, the highest since April 2020, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported.
