MANILA, Philippines — More than 2,200 members of the Far Eastern University (FEU) community endorsed the tandem of Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis Pangilinan for president and vice president, respectively.

The Tamaraws for Leni-Kiko are volunteers from the FEU faculty, executives, managers, non-teaching staff, alumni, and students.

“Commanded by the Nick-Joaquin penned FEU hymn to ‘battle for the right,’ these members of the FEU Community signed the statement of support for the candidacies of Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan,” the Tamaraws for Leni-Kiko said in a statement.

Earlier, the FEU Central Student Organization likewise expressed its support for the tandem, citing their excellence as a leader.

The organization also considers Robredo and Pangilinan as “advocates for inclusive and equitable education” and “role models” for the youth.

According to them, both declarations of support emphasize the qualities of a public service leader that embodies FEU’s core values of fortitude, excellence, and uprightness.

“The Tamaraws for Leni-Kiko believe that the next leaders should have the courage to face all adversities and must have the strong moral character to lead our fellow citizens towards the achievement of our aspirations as a nation, a commitment to provide genuine service to the people, and unparalleled integrity reflected in their statements, actions, and way of life,” it said.

“Our vote is a sacred commitment to ourselves, our families, and our country,” it continued.

Earlier, the university said it is “apolitical” after photos of some Lady Tamaraws — wearing shirts endorsing former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio — went viral on social media.
