32 alleged members of private armed group nabbed in Laguna – Comelec report
MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-two alleged members of a private armed group were arrested in Biñan, Laguna, according to a Commission on Elections (Comelec) report.
The special report dated May 2, seen by INQUIRER.net, revealed that the individuals were collared during an operation conducted by the Biñan City Police at Barangay San Vicente on May 1. The suspects were said to be part of a private armed group of a political candidate in Biñan as they are military reservists, and resigned and discharged military personnel.
The Comelec report also disclosed that it was found out through investigation that 14 of the 32 suspects have an existing case according to records of the National Bureau of Investigation.
“The arrested individuals admitted that they are excessively fearless and bold to operate because of the protection of an active high ranking PNP officer, who is yet to be identified,” the special report said.
