MANILA, Philippines — House Energy Committee Chairman and Pampanga 2nd District Representative Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo assured the public there will be enough power supply come election day on May 9.
During an inspection at Macban Geothermal Power Plant in Laguna, Arroyo checked the availability and reliability of the power units to prevent any unplanned outages. “We want to make sure that everything produced in this power plant reaches the communities and your homes so there will be no brownouts when you go out and vote,” Arroyo explained.
To ensure continuous reliable power supply on May 9 as well as the succeeding months and years, AP Renewables Inc. Macban Geothermal Power Plant Head of Operations Warren Maralit said they are conducting overhauling activities on a regular basis. “This lessens the risks of unexpected power interruptions due to unforeseen events since the units are always well maintained,” Maralit quipped.

Aside from inspecting the Macban Geothermal Power Plant and First Gen Clean Energy Power Plant in Batangas, Arroyo also made rounds at different power plants across the country to ensure everything is in tiptop shape on election day. He plans to inspect more power plants to guarantee continuous power supply all year round. The young Arroyo has been a long-time advocate of clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy supply to address the country’s power security. “Ang trabaho natin is to make sure that we have enough energy being produced by our country. We want guaranteed energy for the future,” Mikey said.
At present the country has 269 power plants: 113 in Luzon, 69 in Visayas, and 87 in Mindanao.
