3 dead in 2 road accidents in Quezon

Three motorists died in two separate road accidents in Quezon province on Monday, May 2, report said Tuesday.

LUCENA CITY –Three motorists died in two separate road accidents in Quezon province on Monday, May 2, report said Tuesday.

Quezon provincial police reported that at around 11 p.m., a private jeepney driven by Wilfredo Quinto accidentally bumped the motorcycle running ahead on the national highway that was driven by Teofilo Aniel, 62, in Barangay (village) Sildora in Agdangan town.

The rider was thrown off from his vehicle, landed on the pavement and consequently run over by the jeepney.

Aniel sustained grave injuries and died while being taken to Unisan Medicare Hospital.

The jeepney driver gave himself up to authorities after the accident.

Meanwhile, Real town police reported that a Hino aluminun wing van driven by Alfonso Castro, 43, accidentally fell into a ravine at the national highway in Barangay Tanauan at around 7:45 a.m.

The report did not mention the depth of the ravine.

Rescuers found Castro and his helper, Allen Castro, 21, pinned to death inside their wrecked vehicle after the salvage operation that lasted for three hours.

Report did not provide information on the personal relationship of the victims.

The truck loaded with agricultural feeds was headed to neighboring Infanta town when its driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a descending curved section of the road and subsequently fell into the cliff and hit several trees.
