ILOILO CITY — The Uniteam was set to hold a grand rally at the 4.8-hectare port and football field of Guimbal town in Iloilo on Tuesday.
Presidential bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice presidential bet Sara Duterte-Carpio would lead the rally that was scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin, who is supporting the tandem, said they expect at least 150,000 participants in the rally touted as the Uniteam’s miting de avance (pre-election grand rally) in the Visayas.
She said about 100,000 participants will come from Iloilo’s first congressional district alone. The Garins were the dominant political force in the district.
Marcos and Duterte-Carpio will also be meeting with representatives of various sectors and organizations including doctors, farmers, and fisherfolks.
To recall, the Unitteam’s scheduled rally in Guimbal on February 24 was aborted due to a controversy over the use of a school property as venue of the rally. But 15,000 supporters joined Marcos and Duterte-Carpio in a rally in Barotac Nuevo on the same day.
