MANILA, Philippines — Former Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito said the recent endorsements he received from different political camps can be credited to his clean track record.
In an interview with DZRH, Ejercito said key personalities from both sides of both sides of the aisle recognize his important contributions to healthcare and housing.
“Unang-una, yung performance natin sa Senado ay naging maayos naman. Dalawang lndmark legislation ang ating naipasa: ang UHL at DHSUD,” he said.
Ejercito, who served as mayor and congressman prior to his first stint in the Senate, said it was never difficult for any camp to support his Senate bid since he has never been involved in any corruption scandal.
“Plus the fact na yung ating public service record in 18 years ay wala po tayong issue ng korapsyon. Wala tayong bahid. Kaya naging magaan siguro tayo dalhin,” he said.
Since the start of the campaign, the former Senator has been joining sorties and rallies led by different presidential candidates, including presidential frontrunner Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, and Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao.
Ejercito said Marcos expressed his support for his senatorial bid in a gathering of colleagues early this week.
Meanwhile, Liberal Party stalwart and Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon also expressed his support for Ejercito’s Senate comeback. He was later joined by Iloilo City Rep. Julienne Baronda, who served as Ejercito’s former chief political officer, and Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas.
Iloilo City and the province of Iloilo are known bailiwicks of the Liberal Party and the current political opposition.
