MANILA, Philippines — Around 12,000 supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration participated in the Duterte Legacy Caravan which coincided with the Labor Day celebration on Sunday, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported.

The caravan was held at the People Power Monument in Barangay Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
QCPD Director Brigadier General Remus Medina said that the joint celebration of the Labor Day and the caravan was “successful.”
“The activity was successful through the efforts and support of the local officials, various government agencies, and advocacy support groups,” the QCPD said in a statement.
“A total of 1,500 personnel were deployed augmented by different agencies and force multipliers while more or less 12,000 Lingkod Bayan Advocacy Groups or supporters joined the said activity,” it also said.
Lingkod Bayan Advocacy Groups include Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo, Global Peace Community Relations Local and International Help Desk, Joint Industrial Peace Concerns Office, and Kaligtasan at Kalikasan among others.
According to the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Duterte Legacy Caravan was simultaneously conducted in various provinces.
The caravans, dubbed Pamana ng Pagbabago Tungo sa Ganap na Kapayapaan (Legacy of Change Towards Peace), seeks to present the government’s programs at the communities’ doorsteps.

“Over the last six years, the Duterte administration initiated a chain of positive events in our lives by ensuring peaceful and safe communities; getting rid of illegal drugs, combatting all forms of corruption; providing proactive and efficient social services, and upholding the human rights of the people, while moving towards post-COVID-19 economic recovery,” Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said in a separate statement.

The caravan, organized by the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict through the Philippine National Police, also exhibits booths of government agencies offering various services.
