/ 05:10 AM April 30, 2022

Camarines Norte Rep. Marisol Panotes has died at the age of 76. Panotes’ daughter, Rosemarie, confirmed this in a post on Facebook on Friday, although no other details of her demise were shared. “It is with deep sorrow to announce the passing of my mother, [Rep.] Marisol ‘Toots’ Panotes— a loving mother, a living wife, a loving grandma and a good public servant. Your prayers will be much appreciated in this most difficult time,” the younger Panotes said. Panotes was part of the House majority bloc and a member of the ruling PDP-Laban party. She served as vice chair of the House panels on disaster resilience and on population and family relations. At the time of her passing, Panotes was running for a third term as Camarines Norte 2nd District representative in the 2022 elections. She first won in 2016. —Julie M. Aurelio
