MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Law Department has issued a subpoena for Quezon City congressional candidate Rose Nono Lin over allegations of “syndicated vote buying operations.” The subpoena was issued on April 27 in connection with a complaint by the Koalisyong Novalenyo Kontra Korapsyon and the Alyansa ng mga Mamamayan ng Bagbag for alleged vote-buying. The complaint includes 16 other individuals for allegedly engaging in vote buying activities and conspiracy to bribe voters, both of which are election offenses. Lin and her accomplices were given until May 16 to submit their duly-notarized counter-affidavits. Failure to comply will be considered as waiver of the right to present defense. Rose Lin is married to Lin Wei Xiong, the finance manager of Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp.
