Gov't tracker says 195 more contract COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 tracker of the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday showed that 195 more people in the country contracted the novel coronavirus.

It also noted that active COVID-19 infections, however, decreased further to 10, 576 on April 27. Active coronavirus cases were at 11,580 as 123 new cases were logged the day before.

The DOH’s COVID-19 tracker likewise reported that since 2020, the government has confirmed the coronavirus infection of 3,685,029 people nationwide. This tally included 3,614,238 patients who recovered from the disease, as well as 60,215 deaths.

On April 25, the health agency said a total of 21,964 people were tested for SARS-CoV-2, which is the latest strain of coronavirus that causes serious respiratory illness COVID-19.

The DOH in its weekly reporting said that 1,465 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from April 18-24, which gave an average of 209 new cases per day that week.
