Mark Villar pledges push for Cam Sur Expressway project continuation, completion
MANILA, Philippines — Senatorial aspirant and former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar has vowed to push for the continuation and completion of the 4-lane 15.21-kilometer Camarines Sur Expressway project.
“I’m happy for this project I am reminded that we are in the right direction of turning our vision into reality. High-impact projects have been made possible through Duterte’s Administration Build, Build, Build program,” Villar said.
The construction of the expressway would reduce travel time and resolve the traffic congestion, particularly during the Peñafrancia Festival in Naga City and the summer months when there is an influx of travelers to Camarines Sur and other parts of the Bicol region.
“The project would serve as an alternate route for motorists going to the southern and eastern municipalities of Camarines Sur including those going to the provinces of Albay and Sorsogon as well as portions of Mindanao. The project will reduce travel time from San Fernando to Pili from 51 minutes to only 11 minutes,” Villar added.
The civil works of the project involve the four-lane road with bicycle lanes as well as a sidewalk with waterways structures including farm crossing overpass structures, access roads, drainage, and slope protection structures, rest bays, and expressway safety features.
