Two dead in truck-tricycle collision in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – A tricycle driver and his passenger died Tuesday after their vehicle was hit by a wayward truck in Tayabas City in Quezon province.

The Tayabas City police reported that a dump truck driven by Christopher Bermudo lost its brakes while negotiating a national road in Barangay (village) Kanlurang Palale at about 9:30 a.m.

The wayward truck consequently bumped a tricycle ahead driven by Abner Pabellano who died on the spot from fatal injuries.

One of four tricycle passengers, school teacher Hannah Shane De Ocampo, 33, was taken to Quezon Medical Center in neighboring Lucena City but died along the way from grave injuries.

The three other passengers were unharmed.

Bermudo was detained and is facing a formal complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicides.
