MANILA, Philippines — Get vaccinated against various diseases during World Immunization Week, which runs from April 24 to 30, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III urged the public on Monday.
Duque made the appeal — especially urging vaccination for infants, pregnant women, and the elderly — during the taped weekly “Talk to the People” briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte.
This year, the week-long celebration has a theme “Magpabakuna na: Long life for all, kaya sa Pilipinas” – “Get vaccinated; Long life for is achievable in the Philippines.”
“We want to convey to Filipinos that vaccination gives everyone the opportunity to have a long and healthy life,” Duque said in Filipino. “Vaccines are safe and effective for the whole family, provide protection to the whole community, and are free at health centers.”
According to Duque, health centers have vaccines for measles-rubella, tetanus-diphtheria, and the human papillomavirus.
