3 FIRES IN 2 DAYS HIT MANDAUE
AT LEAST P60,000 worth of properties were destroyed in three separate fires in Mandaue City.
The first fire broke out at 6:30 p.m. last Wednesday where a crane caught fire in Pier 7 at the Mandaue City Reclamation Area.
The crane, owned by F.F. Cruz, was loading concrete beams to an Iloilo City-bound barge when it caught fire.
Workers tried to put out the fire but failed forcing them to seek help from the Mandaue City Fire Department.
Overheating may have caused the fire, said FO3 Cipriano Codilla.
Damage was pegged at P50,000.
At 12:15 p.m. yesterday, a fire broke in barangay Subangdaku where a house owned by Unan Panlabanan was razed.
Fire investigators said an unattended rice cooker may have caused the fire.
Panlabanan was away when the fire broke out. Panlabana’s neighborhs put out the fire.
Damage was pegged at P3,000.
About four hours later, firefighters responded to another fire at the junkyard of Philippines Span Asia at Pier 7.
Fiber plastics were dumped in the junkyard.
Damage was estimated to be worth P6,000.

GUNMAKER ARRESTED IN DANAO
AN UNLICENSED gunmaker was arrested in his home during a police raid in barangay Tuburan, Danao City, northern Cebu.
Police said an unfinished shotgun and a .38 revolver were found in the house of Roldan Peñas.
Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) conducted the raid based on a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Teresita Galanida.
