Inspired Express look to continue giant-killing ways, face Aces five eyeing piece of lead

Games today:

Cuneta Astrodome

5:15 p.m.- Barako Bull vs. Talk ’N Text

7:30 p.m.- Alaska vs. Air21

Coming off a big upset win, the Air21 Express look to catch another big fish when they battle the on-and-off Alaska Aces in today’s main game of the 37th PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.

The Express scored the biggest upset in the tournament so far when they brought down the defending champions Talk N Text Tropang Texters last Wednesday via an 89-78 decision.

Air21 import Marcus Douthit scored just six points in that game but the locals were for the Express to provide the offensive firepower.

Four Air21 locals scored in double figures in that game led by Nelbert Omolon who tallied 23 points. Omolon was also extra active in the defensive end, collaring 14 rebounds and blocking four shots as the Express snapped a two-game slide for their second win in as many games.

The Aces are gunning for a crucial win as a victory could earn them a piece of the lead depending on the result in the first game battle between the Texters and the Barako Bull Energy.

Alaska, which is coming off a 98-90 win over the Meralco Bolts, are currently in a four -way tie with the B-Meg Llamados, Petron Blaze Boosters and the Barangay Ginebra Kings on identical 3-2 (win-loss) records.

A win by Alaska and loss by Talk N Text will result into a five-way tie at the top.
