TUGUEGARAO CITY––Five persons were rescued after their small rowing boat capsized Sunday off Basco town, Batanes province, authorities said Monday.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) station in Batanes said the distressed boat was spotted 100 yards off the shoreline of Barangay Chanarian.
A rescue team from the PCG identified the rescued villagers as Harly Calvez, 28; Elgie Calvez, 26; Hazel Calvez, 18, Mark Anthony Reyes, 22; and Rose Marie Reyes, 16, all from Basco.
They were brought to the Basco Port and turned over to village officials.
