MANILA, Philippines — Only 1,674 COVID-19 cases were recorded from April 11 to April 17, said the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, still lower than the week before, with only one new severe and critical case recorded.
In its weekly report, the DOH said there was an average of 239 new cases per day — 12 percent lower than the average number of cases logged from April 4 to April 10, which was 272.
Meanwhile, an additional 200 deaths were verified in the same period — 43 occurred on April 4 to 17, and the rest were backlogs from previous months.
Despite a lower number of new cases, the DOH reported that the healthcare utilization rate slightly increased from the previous week’s 16.4 to 16.7 percent in non-ICU beds, but ICU-bed utilization, on the other hand, decreased from 18.4 percent to 15.8 percent nationwide.
The total number of individuals who continue to suffer severe and critical symptoms of COVID-19 also decreased to 664 from the previous week’s 707.
Fully-vaccinated individuals are now at 66,854,770 (74.28 percent of the target population) after 202,154 additional individuals were vaccinated in the past week.
Individuals with booster shots number 12,641,887 after 164,407 additional individuals were inoculated in the same period.
