CEBU CITY – Around 3,000 persons joined the “unity walk” to express their support for presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Sara Duterte-Carpio in this city on Sunday, April 17.
Clad in red, white, and green shirts, the participants marched from Fuente Osmeña to Plaza Independencia, a 3.7 kilometer stretch, at about 6 a.m., carrying a huge Philippine flag.
Among those present in the unity walk was Cebu City Vice Mayor Donaldo Hontiveros.
Lt. Col. Ma. Teresa Macatangay, spokesperson of the Cebu City Police Office, said the event was peaceful and did not disrupt vehicular traffic.
“No one got stuck in the traffic because the event was held early Sunday morning,” she said.
Marcos and Duterte-Carpio are set to hold a grand rally at the South Road Properties in Cebu City on Monday, April 18.
Macatangay said more than 100 policemen will be deployed in the place to ensure a peaceful and orderly event.
Marcos and Duterte-Carpio were endorsed by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.
In the 2016 vice presidential elections, Marcos lost to Leni Robredo in the vice presidential race in Cebu.
