DND’s Easter Sunday appeal: Lift up the needy, help storm victims

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of National Defense (DND) on Easter Sunday urged the Filipino people to help those in need, specifically the victims of Tropical Cyclone Agaton.

DND Secretary Delfin Lorezan,a in a statement, said that Easter is a “reminder that hope springs eternal despite the sorrow and turmoil that we go through in life.”

“Let me also take this opportunity to call on everyone to lift up those who need our help, especially as many of our kababayan have been affected by the recent onslaught of Tropical Storm Agaton in the Visayas and Mindanao,” said Lorenzana.

“May we all be stewards of grace and may the resurrection of Jesus Christ inspire us to look forward to a peaceful and better tomorrow,” he added.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), as of Sunday, “Agaton” has affected a total of 2,015,643 individuals in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The reported death toll has also risen at 172.
