Fire hits cargo ship off Cebu; 1 dead, 3 injured
CEBU CITY – One person died while three others were injured on Sunday morning when fire broke out in a cargo vessel off Talisay City, Cebu.
Lt. JG Krysta Bergantin, Philippine Coast Guard – Central Visayas spokesperson, said 16 other crew members were rescued by PCG and Bantay Dagat personnel from the ill-fated MV General Romulo.
Bergantin said the fire started at around 9:40 a.m. while the vessel was anchored off Talisay while waiting for clearance to dock at Cebu City port.
Further investigation is ongoing.
