MANILA, Philippines — Seaports nationwide have accommodated over 33,000 passengers as of 6:00 a.m. on Good Friday, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
In a social media post, the PCG said the 2,334 deployed frontline personnel in 15 PCG districts have inspected a total of 176 vessels and 115 motor bancas.
The PCG earlier placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert to manage the influx of port passengers during the Lenten season from April 8 to 18.
“It will also cover the length of summer vacation in anticipation of local tourists who will travel by sea for recreational purposes until 31 May 2022,” the PCG said.
The PCG also encouraged passengers to coordinate with the agency through its official Facebook page or the Coast Guard Public Affairs’ contact number at 0927-560-7729 for inquiries, concerns, and clarifications regarding sea travel protocols and regulations during Holy Week and summer vacation.
