Manila Archbishop Advincula to lead Maundy Thursday rites at Manila Cathedral

MANILA, Philippines — Election body and watchdog officials, first-time voters and a member of the media will take part in the washing of the feet rite on Maundy Thursday to be led by Manila Archbishop Jose Advincula during the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper at the Manila Cathedral.

Archbishop Advincula will wash the feet of Comelec officials Thaddeus Herman, Joevy Domondon, and Rose Ann Alejandro; Electoral Board members Angelique Lazo-Mabasa and Dante Parungao, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting members Arwin Serrano, Alfie Diaz, and Ric Galang, three  first-time voters and a member of the press.

The tradition of Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper includes the washing of the feet to recreate what Jesus Christ did to his apostles prior to his crucifixion.
