MANILA, Philippines — Only two ports remained non-operational after Tropical Storm Agaton ravaged parts of the country, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported Wednesday.
The PCG said that the Ports of Escalante and Sagay in Western Visayas have not resumed operations as of April 13, 8 a.m.
“Halos lahat na po nag-resume na po… Ang mga ports po sa Bicol, mga ports po sa Eastern Visayas, kasama po ‘yung mga ports ng Samar at Leyte, northeastern Mindanao, ‘yung sa Surigao po, at lahat po ng ports sa Central Visayas, to include ‘yung mga ports po sa Cebu,” PCG spokesperson Commodore Armand Balilo said in a Laging Handa public briefing.

(Almost all ports have already resumed operations. Ports in Bicol, Eastern Visayas, including Samar and Leyte, northeastern Mindanao, the one in Surigao, and all ports in Central Visayas, including ports in Cebu are operational.)
According to the PCG, 334 individuals and 158 rolling cargoes were stranded in the two ports.
Based on the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s latest data, 43 individuals have died due to Agaton.

Agaton has weakened into a low-pressure area and already dissipated on Wednesday.
