Almost 140,000 individuals affected by Agaton – NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines — Almost 140,000 individuals have so far been affected by Tropical Storm Agaton after it ravaged parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, according to a report issued on Tuesday by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

To be exact, a total of 95,741 families composed of 139,146 individuals in the Visayas and Mindanao were affected by the storm.

Almost 40,000 families were displaced, with only 4,581 in evacuation centers and 33,637 outside.

Six people have also been confirmed injured, two of whom were in Northern Mindanao and four in Soccsksargen.

Trento town in Agusan del Sur is still currently under a state of calamity.

As of 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the eye of Agaton was located “almost stationary” over the coastal waters of Quinapondan, Eastern Samar, carrying maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts of up to 75 kph.
