Gov. Garcia denies ‘conflict in family’ over support for Bongbong Marcos

CEBU CITY — Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia denied insinuations of an internal squabble in her family following her decision to support the presidential bid of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Garcia on Tuesday told the INQUIRER that her brother Rep. Pablo John Garcia of Cebu’s third district even helped draft the statement of One Cebu to formally endorse Marcos.

“In fact, PJ (Pablo John) and I were together yesterday. We also talked this morning (Tuesday),” she said.

“There is no conflict in our family. I respect his (Pablo John) decision to not support Bongbong,” she added.

One Cebu, the biggest political party in Cebu province, on Tuesday formally endorsed Marcos’ presidential bid.

It took months for One Cebu to decide who to endorse for president since Pablo John is supporting Isko Moreno while the governor’s daughter and Liloan town, Cebu Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco is for Marcos.
