Comelec reso reactivating task force vs vote-buying out by Wed
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expected to release by Wednesday a resolution reconstituting the task force against vote-buying, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Monday.
DILG spokesman Jonathan Malaya said the interior department urged the Comelec to reactivate the “Task Force Kontra Bigay” against vote-buying.
“Para ngayon sa 2022, inaasahan ng DILG na kaagad-agad ay maaprubahan na ng Comelec ‘yung reconstituting and reactivating the task force Kontra Bigay,” he said in a Laging Handa briefing.
(For the 2022 elections, the DILG is expecting the Comelec to approve the resolution reactivating the task force.)
“In our meeting with Comelec last week, sabi nila na by Wednesday daw this week ay posibleng ma-aprubahan na ng Comelec ‘yung Comelec resolution,” Malaya added.

Among the members of the task force is the Department of Justice, Malaya said, which will be in charge of prosecuting violators of vote-buying.
“Sana matutukan din natin ang prosecution naman ng mga taong ito para makita ng ating mga kababayan na seryoso tayo sa ating hakbang para mapigilan o mabawasan man lang ang vote-buying sa ating bansa,” he said.
(We hope we can also focus on the prosecution of these violators so that our countrymen could see that we are serious against vote-buying.)
