LEGAZPI CITY — The city government on Monday ordered the suspension of classes  due to heavy rainfall triggered by Tropical Storm ‘Agaton’.

Mayor Noel Rosal, chairman of the City Disaster and Climate Change Resilience Council, said in an advisory that  classes in all levels would be suspended in private and public schools.

All village officials in low-lying areas were likewise ordered to take precautionary measures against possible flooding and landslide and implement the “no sailing” policy.

Residents were also warned not to cross swollen river and waterways.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued an orange rainfall alert in Camarines Sur and Albay, meaning  moderate to heavy rainfall is  expected and flash floods and landslides may occur in high-risk areas.

Agaton is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
