MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is up over four areas in Eastern Visayas as Tropical Storm ‘Agaton’ moves “very slowly” over San Pablo Bay on Monday morning, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
As of 4 a.m., Agaton was spotted over the coastal waters of Tanauan, Leyte, moving west-northwestward. It has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
The following areas are under Signal No. 2 (Gale-force winds prevailing or expected within the next 24 hours):
-southern portion of Eastern Samar (Giporlos, Balangiga, Lawaasn)
-southern portion of Samar (Daram, Zumarraga, Villareal, Talalora, Santa Rita, Pinabacdao, Basey, Marabut)
-Biliran
-northern portion of Leyte (Dulag, Julita, Dagami, Jaro, Tabontabon, Carigara, Capoocan, Barugo, Tunga, Alangalang, Pastrana, Tanauan, Palo, Tolosa, Santa Fe, Tacloban City, San Miguel, Babatngon, Leyte, Calubian)
Meanwhile, 10 areas were placed under Signal No. 1 (Strong winds prevailing or expected within the next 36 hours):
-southern portion of Masbate (Dimasalang, Palanas, Cataingan, Pio V. Corpuz, Esperanza, Placer, Cawayan)
-rest of Eastern Samar
-rest of Samar
-Northern Samar
-rest of Leyte
-Southern Leyte
-northeastern portion of Cebu (Daanbantayan, Medellin, City of Bogo, San Remigio, Tabogon, Borbon, Tabuelan, Sogod, Catmon, Carmen, Danao City, Compostela, Liloan, Tuburan, Asturias) including Bantayan and Camotes Island

Heavy rainfall alert
Based on Pagasa’s 5 a.m. bulletin, moderate to heavy and at times intense rain will prevail in Eastern Visayas, Masbate, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, and the northern and central portions of Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Islands.
Dinagat Islands, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and the rest of the Bicol Region and the Visayas will experience light to moderate and at times heavy rain.
Rough seas!
Coastal waters in areas where Signals No. 1 and 2 are in effect will be rough to very rough with waves of up to 4.5 meters in the next 24 hours.
“Mariners of small seacrafts are advised to remain in port or take shelter, while those operating larger vessels are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions,” warned Pagasa.
