Independent presidential candidate Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and his vice presidential bet Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III urged their supporters to come out of their proverbial shell and make their presence felt.

Lacson made this call Saturday evening after he and Sotto attended a rally organized by their supporters at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City with less than a month left in the campaign period.

“After we go home tonight, we still have much to do in preparation for May 9, Election Day. Let us talk to our families and neighbors and ask them to vote for the most qualified, experienced and competent – that’s Senate President Sotto and me,” Lacson said in Tagalog, during his speech at the rally.

Lacson, Sotto and members of their respective families were warmly welcomed by supporters at the rally that ended before 9 p.m.

After the event, Lacson took to Twitter to thank the groups that organized the rally – and to exhort them to “stop being silent” and to “get out of your echo chamber to be heard by the people.”

“Thank you ‘Pure Love’, ‘True Friends’, ‘Lacson Sotto Support Group’ for organizing your ‘Supporters Rally’ and making it happen today. It’s time to stop being silent. Get out of your echo chamber to be heard by the people. No balloons, no umbrellas, no props. Just pure love,” Lacson said in his tweet.

Before the rally ended, Lacson and Sotto signed before their supporters a pledge for a corruption-free government.

In their pledge, they swore that if they are elected President and Vice President, they will ensure that their administration will not be marred by corruption, thus making sure the Filipinos’ votes are not wasted.

They added they will fulfill their promises to implement much-needed programs of government, and that they will put the interest of the country and the people first.
