MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo hailed the Filipino people’s bravery in the midst of crisis as the nation marked Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) on Saturday.
“Kaisa ako ng Sambayanang Pilipino sa pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kagitingan,” Robredo said in her message.
(I am one with the Filipino people in commemorating the Day of Valor.)
Kailangan lang magsikap at magtiwala,” she added.
(We remember and honor the Filipinos who showed bravery in the midst of crisis—those who faced and resisted greater opponents and were forced to lay down their firearms but never gave up hope that despite the darkness, a glimmer of hope awaits. We just need to work hard and believe.)
The Vice President also expressed hope that the truth about the country’s history will continue to guide Filipinos.
(May the truth account of history guide the path of the country. A contemplative Day of Valor to all of us.)
