PANDI, Bulacan – Relocated Metro Manila informal settlers (IFS), or the the “new Pandieños”, are seen as the primary beneficiaries of the town’s first public hospital inaugurated last Friday, April 8.

Pandi Mayor Enrico Roque said the Pandi Infirmary Hospital is for all residents of Pandi, including members of the urban poor group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay).

The hospital, which can cater to more than 20,000 relocated IFS in government housing sites in six villages, is located in Residence 3 in Barangay (village) Mapulang Lupa. Residences 1 and 2 are also located in the same area.

Pandi Vice Mayor Lui Sebastian said the project signifies the “warm embrace and care native Pandieños accord the new Pandieños.”

The 25-bed capacity public hospital can treat emergency cases, has a birthing room, out-patient service and medicine supply.

Municipal health officer Dr. Maricel Atal said the hospital is allotted a P6 million budget a year for its operation. A separate budget is allotted for medicine and other supplies, she said.

The Bulacan provincial government is also constructing Pandi District Hospital in Barangay Bunsuran.
