MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte hoped on Thursday that the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Centers would be established in major cities to serve more OFWs.

An OFW Center is a hub dedicated to assist OFWs.

“Sana malagay ito sa mga major cities para hindi na magbiyahe ang mga [OFWs] natin,” Duterte said during the OFW Center groundbreaking ceremony in Las Piñas City.

(I hope this will be built in major cities so our OFWs do not have to travel.)

Duterte further stressed that he supports the OFWs who are living amid trying times.

“We also continue to support our OFWs who are now facing unfathomable — fathom is — difficulties in areas such as the Ukraine, the Middle East and Afghanistan, among others,” the president said.

“It is my hope that, in the near future, my fellow Filipinos with adopted cultures and communities will genuinely find great promise and satisfaction upon their return to their homeland,” he continued.
