MANILA, Philippines — Some parts of northern Luzon will experience cloudy skies with rains in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.

These are the areas of Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora province, Pagasa said in its afternoon bulletin.

The weather condition in these areas will be caused by the northeasterly surface windflow and could cause flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains, Pagasa said.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will likewise prevail over Eastern Visayas and Caraga region due to the intertropical convergence zone and could also trigger flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms due to the easterlies or localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Flash floods or landslides may also occur during severe thunderstorms, the agency said.

Meanwhile, Pagasa is still monitoring the low pressure area that was last spotted 520 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar and it is embedded along the ITCZ affecting Mindanao.

Northern Luzon and the rest of the country are expected to have moderate to strong winds in the northeast direction, coupled with moderate to rough coastal waters.

Pagasa said it recorded a minimum temperature of 22.2°C (5 a.m.) and a maximum temperature of 32.81°C (3:03 p.m.) at its Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City.
