CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The tandem of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio has secured another endorsement from Central Luzon, this time from Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales.

Gonzales claimed that aside from him, mayors and some local officials in his district have also declared support for the tandem. Gonzales, together with local and barangay officials in his district, are set to meet with Marcos and Duterte in Barangay Anao, Mexico, Pampanga on Monday afternoon.

“We have decided to heed and share UniTeam candidates’ call for unity, hope and patriotism. If they get elected, they will have the unparalleled opportunity to unite the country behind the challenges it will continue to face, like the COVID-19 pandemic and soaring fuel and consumer prices,” Gonzales said in a statement on Monday.

“We also believe Bongbong Marcos and Mayor Inday Sara are in the best position to continue the programs and advocacies of President Duterte such as the Build, Build, Build push for infrastructure development,” he added.

Gonzales expressed hopes that the tandem, if elected, will be open to his proposal to “introduce “meaningful political changes in our Constitution that will help sustain our country’s growth.”

The lawmaker earlier pushed for longer terms for the president, members of the House of Representatives members, and local officials.

The proposal, contained in Resolution of Both Houses No. 7, seeks to give the president and vice president a term of five years with one reelection.

The measure is currently pending in the House.

Gonzales expressed confidence that he and his leaders, along with other provincial officials, could carry the Marcos-Duterte tandem in the upcoming elections.
