17 new COVID-19 cases logged in Ilocos region

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte––The Department of Health (DOH) in Ilocos announced Monday that 17 new COVID-19 cases were added to the regional tally last week.

The daily average cases from March 27 to April 2 were two, the data showed.

The cases logged during the period were 65-percent lower compared with the reported cases on March 20 to 26, the regional DOH said.

The regional DOH has verified 21 deaths due to the virus have in the past week.

As of April 2, the DOH said 37 COVID-19 admissions in the region were tagged as severe and critical cases.

The DOH added that the non-ICU utilization was 12 percent, with 190 of the 1,573 beds used. At least 18 percent, or 42 of the 213 ICU beds, had been occupied.

Data also showed that 79 percent, or 3.4 million residents of the target population in the region, had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The DOH is targeting to vaccinate at least 4.3 million individuals in the Ilocos.
