Ilocos Norte logs 11 COVID-19 cases in 5 days

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—At least 11 new COVID-19 cases were reported in this province from March 16 to 20, the provincial government said on Sunday, March 20.

Of the 11, two were recorded in the capital Laoag while one case each were registered in the towns of Pasuquin, Piddig, Sarrat, Vintar, Badoc, Marcos, Paoay, and Solsona, and the city of Batac.

The province has 126 active cases or 0.02 percent of its total population.

At least five of the active cases were admitted to hospitals, and four of them were moderate, while one was critical.

The province has logged 24,839 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic struck in 2020.

The same data showed that all COVID-19 indicators, such as bed occupancy, oxygen equipment, and drug consumption, were within safe levels.

As of Sunday, the province’s average daily attack rate was at 0.69 per 100,000 population, according to the COVID-19 tracker of the Department of Health.

Separate data from the DOH showed that Ilocos Norte has the highest vaccination coverage in the region with 90.47 percent, or 448,760 of the 620,052 target population vaccinated as of Monday.
