MANILA, Philippines — A Catholic cathedral has appealed to supporters and staff of political candidates to avoid playing their loud jingles outside Churches, especially when the Holy Mass is ongoing.
“Kindly turn off or lower the volume of your campaign jingles so that the faithful will not be distracted in their prayers,” the Malolos Cathedral said in a statement on Friday.
“Please advise your supporters and campaign personnel to show respect in all places of worship. There are sacraments and prayers being held, especially on Sundays,” it added.
The campaign period for national and local candidates started on February 8 and March 25, respectively. The general election would be held on May 9.
