Arroyo leaves hospital

MANILA, Philippines—Former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo checked out of the  St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City before 4 p.m. Friday, a day after being admitted for treatment of a pinched nerve in the neck.

“I’m okay,” a smiling Arroyo told reporters  at the lobby of the hospital before boarding a car that had come to fetch her.

Elena Horn, spokesperson of the former president who now represents  the 2nd district of Pampanga in the House of Representatives, said doctors had given Arroyo the go signal to resume her activities. Arroyo was to proceed to Guagua, Pampanga, to keep an  appointment, Horn said.

Arroyos’s attending physician, Dr. Juliet Cervantes,   told reporters that Arroyo was no longer in pain, but will undergo  daily therapy and was advised to continue wearing a special neck collar for at least one week.
