After backing Marcos, NUP endorses VP bid of Sara Duterte

VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon — Vice presidential candidate Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio has secured the endorsement of the National Unity Party (NUP), which has already backed the presidential bid of her running mate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The NUP announced the endorsement on Thursday, saying it supports Duterte-Carpio’s call to love the country.

“We wish to announce that the National Unity Party has decided to endorse the Vice Presidential bid of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte,” the party said in a statement.

“We are one with Mayor Sara Duterte in her call ‘Mahalin Natin ang Pilipinas’ as this is a basic requirement for the country’s full recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic as well as for the fulfillment of our sacred mandate to serve and protect our people, as enshrined in the Party constitution,” they added.

The party asked its members to “join hands with the UniTeam of former Senator Bongbong Marcos and Mayor Sara in nurturing national unity, peace, and development.”

The NUP had already endorsed Marcos Jr.’s presidential bid.

However, NUP president, Cavite 4th District Representative Elpidio Barzaga, went against his party’s stand and threw his support for Vice President Leni Robredo.
