Ferolino heads anti-vote buying task force
MANILA, Philippines — Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Aimee Ferolino has been assigned to head Task Force Kontra Bigay, an interagency team to tackle vote buying, Commissioner George Garcia confirmed.
With her designation, Ferolino will be responsible for calling meetings and crafting guidelines, among others.
“Therefore si Commissioner Ferolino ang magpapatawag kaagad ng mga meeting ng task force, magda-draft ng necessary additional guidelines,” Garcia said in an ambush interview.
(Therefore Commissioner Ferolino will be the one who will call for a task force meeting, draft necessary additional guidelines.)
Last week, Garcia shared that a team will be launched, composed of several government agencies, to address vote-buying.
Article continues after this advertisementThe task force’s establishment came after reports that politicians gave away money during campaign activities.
The Department of Justice and the National Bureau of Investigation meanwhile will assist the Comelec by probing allegations of vote-buying.
