Marcos gets backing of Sultan Kudarat governor

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has secured the support of Sultan Kudarat governor Suharto Mangudadatu.

During their grand rally in Isulan town in Sultan Kudarat on Monday, the governor introduced Marcos Jr. as the next president of the Philippines.

“Sa pagkakaisa ng lalawigan ng Sultan Kudarat at ng buong bansang Pilipinas, mga kababayan, ikinagagalak ko pong ipakilala, ang susunod na Pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas, Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr.,” Suharto Mangudadatu said.

(As the province of Sultan Kudarat and the whole country unite, I introduce you the next president of the Republic of the Philippines, Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.)

Sultan Kudarat was one of the provinces visited in Mindanao by Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Citing organizers of the event, Duterte-Carpio’s party Lakas-CMD said that the rally in Sultan Kudarat was attended by at least 100,000 people.

“Sana po kung makita ninyo ang mga ilaw na nagkalat dito ngayon, dito sa lugar natin, nakikita at siguro naman makikita na ang Sultan Kudarat ay buo ang pagsuporta sa UniTeam at sa panawagan ng pagkakaisa,” Marcos said.

Duterte-Carpio also extended her regards to the crowd.

“Maraming salamat po sa mainit na pagtangap sa amin at sa pagkakataong makasama kayo, makikala kayo at makapagbigay ng mensahe para sa pagkakaisa ng bansa,” Duterte-Carpio said.

Aside from Sultan Kudarat, the tandem also visited North Cotabato and Maguindanao on Monday.

In North Cotabato, lawyer Manases “Mans” Carpio campaigned for his wife, Duterte-Carpio.

Based on Commission on Elections’ data, Maguindanao has 818,790 registered voters, while Sultan Kudarat has 497,690. Meanwhile, there are 975,541 voters listed in South Cotabato and 771,206 in North Cotabato.
