MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Davao has confiscated P20 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in Hagonoy, Davao del Sur.

According to a report from BOC on Tuesday, the Port of Davao through its Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, X-ray Inspection Project and Enforcement Security Service, and in coordination with the Philippine National Police, seized 690 master cases of smuggled cigarettes in a joint buy-bust operation on March 24.

“The buy-bust operation resulted in the apprehension of various cigarette brands such as Wilson, Champion, EXXE, Absolute Blue, among others,” the BOC said.

District Collector Erastus Sandino Austria already issued a warrant of seizure and detention against the smuggled goods in accordance with the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, according to BOC.

The agency assured to protect the country’s borders against the entry of smuggled goods.
