SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––The start of the campaign for local candidates in Central Luzon was “generally peaceful,” according to authorities.
In a statement on Saturday, March 26, Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, chief of Police Regional Office 3, said no untoward incident was recorded in the region related to the campaign conduct that began on March 25.
“We hope that from the start of the local campaign period to its last day on May 7, there will be no unfortunate events,” Baccay said.
He said the police workforce in the region would continue to carry out security measures to maintain peace and order during the election period.
“Your police and other partner agencies are doing the best we can to provide the best security coverage and ensure safe, orderly, honest, and peaceful elections on May 9 as we are committed to upholding the sovereign will of the voting public,” Baccay said.
In Olongapo City, a composite team from the local office of the Commission on Elections began on March 25 its “Operation Baklas” to remove improper campaign materials and those that are posted in public places.
