MANILA, Philippines — Vice presidential candidate and Senate President Vicente Sotto III, led the opening of proclamation rallies of allied parties in Sorsogon and Quezon City in time for the kick-off of the campaign period for local candidates on Friday.
Sotto, who is the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) chairman, first attended the kick-off rally for NPC local bets and allies at the Sorsogon Provincial Capitol Plaza grounds early Friday morning.
The provincial capitol grounds were adorned with tarpaulins of candidates from the province’s 14 towns and cities.
Later that day, Sotto led the proclamation rally of party candidates and allies in Quezon City which was held along Himlayan road in front of St. Anthony School in the city’s 6th district.
The Senate President was joined in by Mayor Joy Belmonte and son Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, who are both seeking re-election for the same posts.
Both events were attended by thousands of supporters.
