MANILA, Philippines — Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, son of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has credited his uncle, House Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez for his “skills and readiness” to be Ilocos Norte representative.
Romualdez is a cousin of Marcos Jr.
During his proclamation rally at the provincial capitol compound in Ilocos Norte, the younger Marcos said that Romualdez’ political and congressional mentorship has helped him become capable of running for a Congress seat.
“Higit sa lahat, dinala ko rin ang aking amo, ang aking boss, si House Majority Floor Leader Martin Romualdez,” said Sandro Marcos as he acknowledged guests and officials at his political rally.
(Most of all, I also brought with me my boss, House Majority Floor Leader Martin Romualdez.)
“Dalawang taon po akong nagtrabaho sa kanyang opisina sa Kongreso at siya ang dahilan kung bakit handang-handa na po akong maging congressman,” Marcos continued.
(I worked for his office in Congress for two years and he is the reason why I am fully ready to become congressman.)
During a gathering early this month to celebrate his birthday, Marcos also acknowledged the support and training he received from Romualdez.
“Lahat po ng natutunan ko sa Kongreso ay dahil sa kaniya. Ako po ay nagpapasalamat na nandito siya ngayon,” Marcos said of Romualdez who was present during the event.
