DOJ approves criminal raps vs 10 in biggest shabu haul
MANILA, Philippines — Government prosecutors have indicted 10 individuals arrested in Infanta, Quezon carrying over P11-billion worth of shabu last March 15.
In a resolution dated March 21 which was made public Friday, respondents Alvin Ibardo, Jaymart Gallardo, Reynante Alpuerto, Jenard Samson, Jamelanie Samson, Mark Bryan Abonita, Marvin Gallardo, Dante Mannoso, Eugene Roger Bandoma, and Kennedy Abonita will be facing a case for violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, for transporting 1,680.563kg of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
“After evaluation of the evidence, the Panel of Prosecutors found that the arrest of the respondents to be valid. Also, there is sufficient evidence to hold respondents for trial,” read the resolution which was approved by Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento.
The resolution stated that all 10 individuals were apprehended while onboard the suspected vehicles plying along National Highway, Infanta, Quezon. The vehicles were loaded with several sacks of teabags containing methamphetamine hydrochloride, as determined in the laboratory examination report.
The Office of the Prosecutor General, in a statement, said the criminal case will be filed at the Regional Trial Court of Infanta, Quezon.
The P11-billion worth of shabu, the NBI said the biggest drug haul in Philippine history.
Article continues after this advertisementThe drugs was seized last March 15 at around 4 a.m. in Barangay Comon, Infanta, Quezon. The operation was led by the NBI-Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (TFAID), NBI-Research and Analysis Division (RAD), and Lucena District Office (LUCDO) in coordination with Philippine National Police in Infanta, Quezon and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Lucena.
