LUNAS Party gets backing from musicians, workers in gig industry

Songwriters, singers, and other “no-work, no-pay” workers in the local music industry have poured their support for the LUNAS Partylist group for the May 2022 polls.
They believe LUNAS would represent them and other “no-work, no-pay” workers in Congress to protect their rights and safeguard their interests under the law.
“We found in LUNAS led by its first nominee, Mr. Brian Yamsuan, the voice we need in Congress to help address the problems faced by workers in the gig economy,” said Al Henson, the CEO of Glass Entertainment, which manages the careers of several musical artists.
He and other personalities in the music industry urged other “no-work, no-pay” workers in different sectors of the economy to back LUNAS for the same reason.
Workers in the so-called “gig” economy were among the first to be severely affected by the lockdowns during the pandemic, as most of them rely on gigs in pubs, bars, and other public places and events for their income.
Among them was Ronnie Cruz of the LUNA Band, who suffered a stroke and lacked the means to pay for his mounting hospital expenses.
“Nakaraos ako sa mga bayarin dahil walang iba kundi ang LUNAS Partylist sa pangunguna ni Brian Yamsuan ang tumulong sa akin at sa pamilya ko,” Cruz said.
“Patunay ito ng kabutihan at kusang pagtulong ng LUNAS Partylist sa mga tulad naming ‘no-work, no-pay,'” he added.
Singer-songwriter Paolo “Mister Acoustic” Santos, his bassist Joel Guarin and drummer Stanley Seludo; Bradley Holmes of the Shamrock Band; singer-songwriter Pido Lalimarmo; singer-songwriter Thor Dulay; singer Rizza Gonzaga; violinist Juliet Tan; bassist-songwriter Jhon Bunda; band personal assistant Aris Caingat; and Kiko Versoza, Shie Esparrago, Muriel dela Paz, Donna Ricafrente and Espie Estanislao of the LUNA Band were among the musical artists who have expressed their support for the party.
They joined other members of the local entertainment industry in urging voters to choose LUNAS as their partylist group in the May 9 polls.
Juliet Tan, the violinist of the Kadense female duo, said she was among the beneficiaries of the assistance provided by LUNAS Partylist during the pandemic.
“Ang LUNAS ang unang tumulong sa amin sa kasagsagan ng pandemya. Nagbigay sila ng tulong ng hindi namin hinihingi dahil totoo ang malasakit nila sa aming mga ‘no-work, no-pay,’” Tan said.
Versoza, Dela Paz, Gonzaga, and Caingat, to name a few, also thanked LUNAS for the help they received during the pandemic.
LUNAS Partylist’s is number 58 in the ballot for the May 9 elections.
