MANILA, Philippines — More than 900,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine for children have arrived in the country on Wednesday night, the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 said.

The 942,000 reformulated Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines, intended for 5- to 11-year olds, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, via DHL Express flight LD456, around 9 p.m.

The NTF said the vaccine doses were procured by the national government through a loan from the World Bank.

Another shipment, carrying 936,000 doses of reformulated COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine, is scheduled to be delivered on Thursday, March 24.

NTF COVID-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. recently reported that 593,708 children aged 5 to 11 are already fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

The government is planning to have 15 million kids in the said age group vaccinated against COVID-19.
